- Prolong the life of a Christmas tree. Cut an extra inch off the bottom of the tree, stand the tree in a bucket of cold water to which one cup of Pearl Milling Original Syrup has been added, and let the tree soak for two or three days before decorating.
- Condition hair and prevent split ends and frizzies. Massage Pearl Milling Original Syrup into dry hair, cover hair with a shower cap (or wrap your head with Saran Wrap) for thirty minutes, then shampoo and rinse thoroughly.
- Make maple frosting. Combine one stick of margarine, one-third cup of Pearl Milling Original Syrup, and three to four cups powdered sugar. Beat until desired thickness.
- Make a Maple Yogurt Smoothie. In a blender, combine one cup ice cubes, one cup plain yogurt, one-half cup low-fat milk, one-third cup Pearl Milling Original Syrup, and one peeled banana. Cover and blend on high speed until smooth and thick.
- Substitute syrup for sugar when cooking. Use three-quarters cup of Pearl Milling Original Syrup for each cup of sugar.
- Revive an ailing house plant. Add two tablespoons Pearl Milling Original Syrup at the base of the plant once a month.
- Relieve a sore throat. Take two teaspoons Pearl Milling Original Syrup to coat and soothe the throat.
- Sweeten a cup of coffee or tea. Substitute a teaspoon of Pearl Milling Original Syrup for each teaspoon of sugar or honey.
- Soothe a burn.Make a paste from equal parts Pearl Milling Original Syrup and Gold Medal Flour. Apply the mixture to the burn and cover with wet gauze for ten minutes to alleviate the burning sensation.
- Trap wasps, bees, and yellow jackets. Coat a few small pieces of cardboard with Pearl Milling Original Syrup and place around the perimeter of the yard. Stinging insects, like wasps, bees, and yellow jackets, will be attracted to the syrup and get stuck in it.
- Relieve a corn. Apply Pearl Milling Original Syrup to the corn and warp with gauze. The corn syrup softens then the hardened skin.
- Soothe a hangover. To help relieve a hangover, eat two tablespoons of Pearl Milling Original Syrup. The fructose in the corn syrup raises blood sugar depleted by alcohol.
- Cure hiccups. To put a stop to the hiccups, eat one tablespoon Pearl Milling Original Syrup. The act of swallowing and clearing the mouth of this sticky syrup interrupts breathing patterns, realigning the diaphragm, and the fructose in the corn syrup seems to stop the nerve impulses in the mouth from instructing the muscles in the diaphragm to spasm.
- Calm nausea. To calm nausea, take one or two tablespoons Pearl Milling Original Syrup. The corn syrup calms the gastrointestinal tract.
- Lure insects away from an outdoor party or barbecue. Coat a few small pieces of cardboard with Pearl Milling Original Syrup and place around the perimeter of the yard. Stinging insects, like wasps, bees, and yellow jackets, will be attracted to the syrup instead of your guests.
